School Wennappuwa
ABOUT US
Evolution of HFGS
The Holy Family priests founded the school education service after accepting Father Chunavel of the Immaculate Mary Order’s invitation and helping to lay the groundwork for a solid educational foundation. Wennappuwa Sinhala Girls’ School, established by Sh, had about 150 students when it was turned over to the Holy Family sisters in January 1885. It has also been mentioned that it was moved from Juse Munidun’s church grounds to the convent property, where this school is currently situated. The churches were under the direction of Reverend John Aloysius (Em.E.*) at that time.
